Above is a funny cartoon drawing by the famous writer William Makepeace Thackeray,  1862?

London as it Is 1832, children's gin statistics
1832: the child customers for gin were probably sent by adults.
Most early mentions of alcohol were of social problems,

1960s short range Bazooka toy
This 1960s 'short range' Bazooka launched big hollow plastic shells only a couple of feet,  and the plastic camouflage soon broke from the helmet.  The poorly shaped strapless helmet slipped from the head at the slightest tilt. WAR games were really all about hunting and evading each other.  Boys played war outdoors in all weather,  then flopped in front of the television to absorb electronic junk-food and eat chemicals.  Bazooka.
